Maria Salomea Skłodowska-Curie
was born on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw, Poland. She was a good student in her
secondary school, but she couldn’t attend the University of Warsaw because it
was only for men. After years working and suffering, she could finish her studies
at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
Then, she started to
investigate and his husband Pierre Curie helped her. She made history in 1903
when she became the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in physics and in
1911 when she won her second Nobel Prize in chemistry and became the first
scientist to win two Nobel Prizes.
I admire Marie Curie because
she demonstrated that any woman can achieve whatever she wants. She defended
her women rights and she inspired all those women that didn’t believe in
themselves. She broke the myths about women and their jobs and, I think that
she gave the society another perspective about the equality between men and
women.
